Time Is Running Out

Lately I have been burdened more than normal for the salvation of my family; those both near and far. I have also been thinking of the lost around the world who have never, even once, heard the name of Jesus. I hurt when I think of their future if they die without Jesus.

I doubt this will be a popular post. Most people don’t like to think about hell. Many do not even believe in it and this includes Christians. A lot of churches have stopped preaching about it. But that doesn’t make it less real. Jesus spoke about it and if He did, I think it we can bet on it being a real place.

We as Christians can sometimes get caught up in living for Jesus. We can devote all of our spare time to serving God in our local church. We can have something going almost every night of the week between family events and church.

Because we are believers, we have an eternity waiting for us. There we will spend time worshiping God; talking with Jesus; being reunited with friends and family. I am sure there will be plenty of learning opportunities also as we live eternally on the new heaven and new earth.

And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 20:15

But I wonder, how much time do you spend thinking about people going to hell? Loved ones, co-workers, neighbors, strangers. If they do not believe in Jesus as the only Son of God; accept what He did in dying on the cross for their sins and defeating death by rising from the grave on the third day, they are going to hell.

No matter how good a person they may be. No matter if they were raised in the church. No matter if they are members of a certain church. No matter if they spent millions giving to the poor and the needy. No matter if their parents and grandparents went to church. No matter if they sacrificed their life to serve the poor. If they do not believe in Jesus as their Savior, they are going to hell. Forever.

We have all seen movies showing someone getting burned or burning to death. We all cringed. But that was just a movie. We might have even heard of or seen a person getting burned in real life. Whether that person died or survived, we all gasped and cringed. But hell is forever. A place of torment that never ends. It goes on and on and on. No respite. No time out. Just never ending torment forever.

Does your inner spirit cry over the souls that are going to burn for eternity? I look around at people and wonder, how many of these know Jesus. How many have scoffed at the idea of hell? How many have laughed and made fun of believers and their crazy ways? How many have denied the very existence of God? My spirit cringes when I think of these people in hell.

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Matthew 10:28

You may say, “They made their choice.” Yes, that may be true but have you done your part in spreading the gospel? Is your life as a believer such a one that people seeing you, how you act and live, would they see the love of Jesus in you? Would it cause them to wonder and question their own belief or lack of it?

Have you done your part in supporting groups that spread the message of salvation? Is your church involved? If you say yes, do you know the details of that involvement? It’s your money being used, you had better make sure it is being wisely spent.

Do you pray for the lost? Do you pray fervently for their salvation? Recently I was stopped, first in line at a busy intersection. As I was waiting, I started watching the traffic and the people. I began to think, how many of these people are going to heaven? It broke my heart, since the majority of them most likely are not going to make it there.

The body of Christ as a whole, needs to wake up to the lost around them. See them burning in hell and be freaked out about it. I am tired of hearing about the apathy in the churches today. Some don’t even seem to care about what the future holds for those outside their church doors. To them life is just a waiting game here on earth until Jesus comes.

Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

Matthew 25:41

We should be doing our best to reach out to them and save the lost from those flames that are waiting to devour them. No wait, I said that wrong. The flames won’t devour them. They won’t be burned up and destroyed. Those flames will continue to burn them for eternity. Without end. They will beg for death, but death will not come.

Time is running out. This world is not going to last forever. Jesus is coming back and it will be sooner than you think. Then it will be too late. It is our responsibility to make sure that people are given the knowledge of salvation. It is our responsibility to pray for people we know.

Do you have unsaved loved ones? Picture them burning in hell. Maybe that will motivate you to pray for them more. I am serious. Picture that and then tell me it doesn’t move you to prayer; to witnessing to them. I have many unsaved loved ones that I earnestly pray for. I can’t bear the thought of them in hell.

Pray that someone can reach them with salvation. Pray that Christian people cross their path each day and that they can be a witness to them. Pray that the Holy spirit would bring back to their minds teachings, verses, songs about the Lord and salvation. Pray that the Holy Spirit can get through and give them a hunger to know God. Pray that they could be convicted of their sins. In every way you can think of pray for them and don’t stop. Ever.

Rivers of water run down from my eyes,
Because men do not keep Your law.

Psalm 119:136

I can’t end this post without offering hope to anyone who isn’t a believer in Jesus. Maybe there is one person reading this who doesn’t know Jesus as their Savior. Never actually took the steps needed to fix their place in eternity. If this is you, you can take care of it right now.

Jesus, the only Son of God was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life on this earth. Died on the cross for the sins of the world, including yours. He did this as a sacrifice, taking your place, so you wouldn’t have to pay for all the wrong you have committed. He was buried, but didn’t stay there. On the third day He rose from the grave, beating death. He returned to heaven and is sitting on God’s right side, waiting for His Father to tell him it is time to bring all believers home to heaven.

The bible says:

For all have sinned and come short

of the glory of God.

Romans 3:23

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17

If you believe this to be true, you can accept Him as your personal Savior. Just talk to God.

Tell Him you have sinned and want forgiveness. Ask Him to clean you from it all. Ask Him to come into your life; change you and make you a new creation.

If you have done this, you are now a believer in Jesus. I hope that you will tell someone about this. Tell me! I would love to know. All comments are checked by me before they go public, so if you want it to be private (not posted publicly) just say so. If you have more questions, go ahead and ask, we can talk about that too.

Until next time, God bless.

  1. What a great message! I had a situation in my life where I was deeply hurt by several people. Over time, God has softened my heart and I have been able to pray for them instead of focusing on the hurt. Thank you for this reminder to pray for everyone. 🙂

  2. I admire your boldness, Brenda, in spreading this message. Jesus taught it. It should be the sorrow of all Christians. It is a call to me to pray often and diligently for those whom I can help to rescue.
