If you’re reading this, it shows you’re curious enough to check this out. Are you looking for God? For Jesus? Are you wanting answers for why you’re feeling so empty? Have you tried other ways or religions looking for satisfaction? Are you feeling the need for a change in your life? I’m hoping and praying that you will find answers to to these things right here, right now, today. Becoming a believer is a serious life-changing step and not to be taken lightly.

I’m going to go through this step by step as I want to be sure to cover everything and I’m going to keep it as simple as possible. Please don’t be offended at how simplistic I make it. I just want any and all ages to be able to understand this.

How It All Started

God made the world and everything on it, including humans. Though at the very start, He just made two of them; a man and a woman. They were perfect; without sin.

He had planned that they would live together with Him forever. He gave them some basic rules and said if you disobey these rules (sin), you will die; meaning both a spiritual and a physical death. Easy enough, right?

Well, they didn’t listen, they disobeyed, which brought sin into the world and death. It meant a separation from God and an eventual physical end to their life. They passed this down to every other human since then, meaning we inherited this sinful nature; along with inheriting physical death.

So What’s Sin?

Sin is anything you do wrong according to what God has told us in His word, the bible. It’s missing the mark.

Here are some verses from the bible that explain it:

All unrighteousness is sin. 1 John 5:17

…To him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. James 4:17

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar… 1 John 1:10

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God… Romans 3:23

What’s The Result of Sin?

Like I said above, the result of sin is death. Spiritual death means separation from God now and physical death, which would result in separation from God forever.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Roman 6:23

But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear. Isaiah 59:2

Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins. John 8:24

What’s the Answer?

When death and sin came, God was disappointed too. He had wanted people to live with Him forever. So, because He loves us so much; He promised to send someone who would save us from the penalty of our sins and the separation from Him. He sent us Jesus, God’s only Son. Jesus came from heaven, to live as a man, though He was perfect, without sin, so that at the right time, He could give His life; shed His blood for our sins. To pay the price of redeeming us from death.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

…For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 10:19

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Is There Any Other Way To Be Saved From Sin and Death?

No. God provided one way, through the shed blood and death of His only Son. That paid the payment for our sin. Jesus also conquered death by not staying in the grave. He rose from the grave after having been buried 3 days; and came back to life. He beat death.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit. 1Peter 3:18

What Do I Have To Do?

Admit you’re a sinner and tell God you’re sorry for all the sins that you’ve done. Tell Him you believe that He sent His Son Jesus, to die on the cross, to pay for Your sins. Believe that He died, but rose again and is living back up in heaven.

…That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:13

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13

Here is a simple prayer to say:

Father God, I admit I’m a sinner, but I’m sorry for every wrong thing I have done in my life. I believe that Jesus shed His blood and died for my sins and rose again. So I ask that You forgive me and make me clean. I accept Your gift of salvation and ask Jesus to be my Savior.

In Jesus’s name, amen.

If you just prayed that prayer, you are now saved. You are a believer; a son or daughter of God.

What Do I Do Now?

By believing in what you just read, and by praying that simple prayer you became a believer by faith; meaning you believed without seeing. Your salvation wasn’t done by being good enough, or by any good deeds you did. You were saved by your belief in what God’s word, the bible said. That’s faith.

Now that you have done this you will want to do a few things to help you live a new life.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Read God’s word

To grow closer to God and to learn to live a new life with Him, you need to read the bible. Every day. It is food for your spirit. The more you read and learn the more your faith will grow too. It shows us how to live our lives as a believer. What to do and not do. It teaches us about the life of Jesus when He lived here on earth. The bible also teaches us about God. Who He is and how much He loves us. Start your reading off with the book of John.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness 2 Timothy 3:16

Your word I have hidden in my heart,That I might not sin against You. Psalm 119:11

Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

Pray

Praying is talking to God. Though you can’t see Him, He is everywhere and you can talk to Him just like a friend. You don’t need to learn any fancy words, you just pray from your heart. You can pray anywhere too, not just in church.

There are different reasons to pray. Whenever you do something wrong, you need to confess it to God and ask His forgiveness. Also ask that He help you get stronger, so you can fight against doing it again.

You can pray asking for His help. If you’re sick; if you need help at work or school, you can ask Him to help you with the problem. You can pray for others too; for family friends, whoever you know that needs help.

Pray before you read His word. Before reading, ask God to have His Holy Spirit give you understanding of what you read.

…praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. Ephesians 6:18a

…that men always ought to pray and not lose heart Luke 18:1b

Call to Me, and I will answer you… Jeremiah 33:3a

Fellowship With Other Believers

When you became a believer you joined a family; the family of God. Each one is special and unique; just as you are. We all have a part to do in this family; this body of believers. As family we should hang together, worship together, pray together and help one another. This strengthens our family bonds as God wants. The more time you spend with other believers the more you will learn from each other also. The body of believers is meant to work together, lift each other up. This is the importance of finding a good church and attending it every week. Look for one that believes, teaches and lives out the Bible.

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another…Hebrews 10:24-25

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:5-8

I hope this has given you enough information to make a decision to become a believer; to get saved. If yes, then know that I celebrate with you. Please let me know; I would be thrilled to hear about it.

If you haven’t made that decision, think about it, please. You now know the choice in front of you. One for God or one against God. Your decision affects your eternity. God sent His Son to die for YOU. If you die without giving your life to Him, you will spend eternity without God. Separated from Him in hell. Yes, hell is real.

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

Until next time, God bless.
